The Darius Experience

The DariusGuitarz adventure began the day I saw James Hetfield and his Explorer in Paris in 2002.

It was a revelation – I needed to have the same guitar… But I’m left-handed… So, I looked into how to build guitars and started learning the art of guitar-making, of becoming a luthier, all in order to make my own model using the wood from my local carpenter’s workshop. That’s how I got hooked. I started making guitars for myself, then for my friends, and I could no longer stop: this job really is a drug and I always need another fix.

From the moment I founded DariusGuitarz, I knew I only wanted to use hand-operated tools in order to offer really handmade guitars, without computer-controlled machinery or laser robots. The precision of a well-trained hand easily matches that of a computer.

DariusGuitarz designs are not only inspired by classic guitars but also by custom cars from 1920s to the 1970s, when automobiles were made to look like something other than electric razors.

I am very demanding with myself regarding the absolute perfection of glued parts and to minutiae. Neck profiles, volutes, and heels all require a distinct rigor in order to make them as ergonomic as possible.

Quotes are fashionable, and so here is one that describes my own philosophy: there are no limits. There are only plateaus, but you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.” Bruce Lee.
